Project Description

EmpowerU assists women in leaving the sex trade and achieving independence.  EmpowerU helps educate these women with financial literacy, life skills, returning to school, and obtaining employment. Currently we are partnered with Next Step Ministries and ATB and run an eight week class teaching the above skills. After completion of these classes, women receive a scholarship to assist them in the next phase of their life.

After a thorough needs assessment, EmpowerU is now working towards adding a new step to our program that will further assist the women in developing employability and job skills. After completion of an updated and condensed in class portion, the women will have the opportunity to take part in a co-op internship. These internships will help the women add valuable experience to their resume as well as learn how to operate a social enterprise or small business.

One of the co-op internships will be with a new social enterprise, initially operated by EmpowerU. The ultimate goal is to have this social enterprise owned and operated by the women completing our program, as well as for a portion of the profits to be infused back into the community and programing to help more women leave the sex trade and create a new life for themselves and their families.

If you or someone you know could benefit from this program, would like to work with us, or would like more information please send us an email at
